To My Patients,
I am very excited to share the news of the opening of Tracy Johnston MD Center for Integrative Medicine on August 15, 2016 in Winchester, Virginia. I will be offering a new and innovative approach to primary care which brings the best of what you appreciated in the past and the improvements in access many of you requested along with plenty more wonderful benefits!

Over the past several years I have realized the direction in which traditional primary care is heading does not allow me to continue to provide the kind of care which means so much to you and is in line with my own integrity and the quality of care I wish to provide. I have also expanded my learning to complementary healing modalities and have discovered when used with modern medicine, it allows the opportunity to care for the whole patient and their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

I am sharing this to explain why The Center for Integrative Medicine will operate in a different way here in Winchester - although far from unique in other areas of the country. Called direct primary care (DPC), it is an innovative model of care which puts the emphasis back on the doctor - patient relationship.
As a member of the Center for Integrative Medicine, patients pay a flat, affordable monthly fee which covers being seen by me without a copay for all visits. You will continue to have the longer visits you are used to, but will have less time waiting to be seen. Your visit will not be rushed and because I will have many fewer patients, we will do our best to allow you to be seen the same or next business day when you call in for an acute appointment.

You will also have access to my cell phone to call or text me outside of office hours for medical concerns. Of course, you need to go to the emergency room for any urgent or emergency medical concerns and not wait to speak with me before doing so.. It is important that during office hours, you call the office for questions and concerns. When I am seeing patients, I am focused on their care and am not checking phone messages and texts. On occasions when I am traveling and not easily reachable I have arranged excellent back up coverage in case you need to speak with a physician.

My mission has always been to provide personal, thorough care in an environment which fosters respect and provides a safe space to share your concerns. Caring for the whole patient at the Center for Integrative Medicine is the standard of care!
